Event type: Commemorative Observance
COMSATS, in collaboration with the UNESCO Pakistan Office, COMSTECH, the ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF), the Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS), and the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), will jointly commemorate World Science Day for Peace and Development 2026 under the framework of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD 2024–2033).
Observed annually on 10 November, World Science Day for Peace and Development is a UNESCO-led global observance that highlights the vital role of science in fostering peace, sustainable development, and social well-being. The Day seeks to strengthen public awareness of the importance of science, promote dialogue between scientists, policymakers, and society, encourage international scientific cooperation, and reaffirm the use of science for the benefit of humanity.
The 2026 celebration will provide a national platform for scientists, researchers, policymakers, academia, development partners, industry representatives, youth, and civil society to exchange knowledge and explore science-driven solutions to pressing development challenges. The programme will feature keynote addresses, high-level panel discussions, interactive dialogues, and showcases of innovative research and technologies, with particular emphasis on strengthening science–policy–society interfaces, promoting ethical and responsible innovation, advancing Open Science, and accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
